| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to make student-centered education in "practical experience-based learning" more effective, this study aims to extract from practical examples the skills necessary for instructors and the know-how of course design and management, which have not been formalized into knowledge due to individual experience, and to build a system for accumulating data. We conducted participant observation, questionnaire surveys, and interview surveys of project-based learning (PBL) practices at two engineering higher education institutions. Using the survey data, we analyzed the information that should be collected in order to improve class design and management, and the skills that teachers need in terms of project management and problem-centered learning theory. We then developed a prototype of a course improvement supporting system equipped with information useful for course design and management.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では、教員が自ら担当する授業の設計・運営を見直すために、どのような情報を蓄積していくとよいのかの項目整理ができた。またPBL実践に関する２つの事例の調査から、教員や企業等の外部協力者が、学生たちによる真正性の高い活動の維持をしつつ、学習目標達成に向けた個々の学生への支援を両立するには、プロジェクトマネジメントにおける各プロセスに応じて、既有知識の活性化促進、例示やフィードバックの使い分けをしたり、その量を調整する必要があることが示唆された。本研究で得られた知見や開発したプロトタイプは、今後、教員のPBL運営スキル向上を目指す教育プログラム開発を行う際の足掛かりになるものと考える。
