Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Eight cadaveric shoulders were tested in a custom shoulder testing system. Glenohumeral translation, translation, subacromial contact pressure, and glenohumeral range of motion, were compared among 5 conditions: 1)intact rotator cuff; 2)repairable non degenerative rotator cuff tear; 3)repairable degenerative rotator cuff tear; 4)primary repair of degenerative rotator cuff tear; And 5)SCR + primary repair of degenerative cuff tear. SCR augmentation of degenerative cuff tear repair (defined as 25% loss of thickness at tendon edge) improves superior stability without restricting range of motion.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
