In the 1940s, Japan was in a period of unprecedented turmoil, from the wartime to the occupied period. At the time, newspapers were an extremely important medium for the people. However, due to lack of supplies, there were only a few pages available. What kind of articles related to literature and art were published in newspapers that had only a limited amount of space to report the many incidents and events that needed to be reported? This report examines this question by focusing on the local editions of national newspapers and regional newspapers that had not received much attention in the past.
