Having analyzed the correlation between Kolomna in St.Petersburg and Dostoevsky’s novels of 1840s, like "Poor Folk", "Another Man's Wife", "A Weak Heart" and "White Nights", it became clear that Dostoevsky created a new type of mechitatel’ in "White Nights".

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
ロシア文学のコロムナはこれまでペテルブルクの貧民区として補足的に説明されるにとどまり、コロムナと文学作品の関連を論じた研究は無かった。「生理学もの」が流行した40年代には、ドストエフスキーの作品にもコロムナが繰り返し描かれるが、やはり小役人の住む貧民窟と説明されるばかりで、繰り返し描かれることの重要性は等閑視されてきた。本研究は、文学のコロムナに光を当てただけでなく、一様に理解されていた40年代のドストエフスキーの夢想家に、新たな視角を指摘したことでドストエフスキー研究にも寄与した。
