| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In China the term “tonghua” is used to refer to fairy tales and lterally children’s tales .This term tonghua was borrowed from the Japanese ,in the first decade of the twentieth century.This study examined the articles in children's magazines during the late Qing period and early Republican era, and considered the establishment of the concept of “tonghua” in modern China. I found out many works were translated from Japanese. In the late Qing period many works of Iwaya Sazanami’s otogibanashi, and in early Republican era, many works of Mimei Ogawa’s dowa were translated from Japanese. Through this study revealed Mimei Ogawa’s dowa was noticed as the standerd of tonghua in modern China, and found out early works of Chinese children’s literature were heavily influenced by cultural contact with Japan and Japanese children’s literature.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究を通じてまず明らかになったことは、日中両国における児童文学の最初の接触が、清末民初であるということである。中でも『蒙学報』に紹介された巌谷小波のお伽噺について発見したことは、日本と中国の児童文学史を鑑みる上で、非常に大きな意義があったと言える。この件は日中両国においてこれまで指摘されたことが無く、児童文学史の見直しにつながるものであると言える。また、民国期の童話に関しては、小川未明の童話を中心に、「童話」という文芸が、同時代の日本・中国・韓国において広く発展していたということを考察することができた。このことは、東アジア児童文学史を考える基盤となった。
