| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, there was no clear significant difference in the training by having the participants listen to sounds emphasizing the high-frequency band unique to English for listening to sounds that are difficult for Japanese.
However, there was a clear difference in the post-training impressions, which were positive in terms of interest in the sounds. It was effective in generating interest in the existence of differences in sound.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
音の違いをはっきり聴き分けられる日本人が少なく、聴き分けられるとしてもそれを自覚していないことも多い。今回の研究で、そういう音があることを意識させられることには成功していることが、被験者の感想には出ていた。違いのある音を積極的に聴こうと準備することはとても大切である。
今後、対象者を大学生でなく、年齢が低い英語の初学者に向けることが大切だとネイティブの研究者全員にアドバイスを受けた。その際の音の作成方法の参考になることを願う。
