This analysed Mikazuki domain and community,vassals of the Mikazuki Mori family、and administratively activities of the lower vassal Takeuti family.
Those are related to investigation of the ruling system in a small feudal domain in West Harima province in early modern Japan.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
近世における西播磨の地域的特質を、領主支配と地域行政に焦点を当てて検討し、幕府の広域行政支配の強い非領国地域であっても西播磨では小藩や旗本領が陣屋町を拠点に独立性のある地域的纏まりによって個別領主支配を実現していたことを解明した。また大庄屋の役割や幕府の公儀触れの伝達方法にも個別領主支配ごとに異なることも判明した。また三日月藩（森家）下級家臣の武家屋敷に伝存する古文書の発見により、在地する家臣（武士）の地域社会との日常的、経済的な関わりの具体相も明らかとなった。さらに藩主の江戸参勤や駿府城勤番に随行する下級家臣に記録からも中央と地方の関係が読み取れた。
