Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study uses the Vietnam Enterprise Survey between 2000 and 2015 to investigate impact of WTO accession (in 2007) on aggregate productivity of Vietnamese manufacturing sector. For this purpose, we examine changes in the production function, which represents relation between output and inputs (labor and capital), and changes in productivity of individual firms and the manufacturing sector before and after 2007. According to our results, the WTO accession caused changes in production structure of the manufacturing sector to raise productivity of individual firms, whereas it stagnated the aggregate productivity growth by weakening output reallocation effects, in which firms with higher productivity occupy higher output share in the sector.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
