| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study describes the impact of curriculum reform, "common core state standards" in the United States at a middle school.
As a result, it was confirmed that the academic achievement of the lower SES students tends to decline. In terms of support, AVID helps socio-economically disadvantaged students. And, comprehensive pre-school support system "Smart Start", school social workers, and McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act supports those students. Further studies are needed in order to identify this study through cases in other regions.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究で得られた知見は、教育改革と学力格差をめぐる一連の研究に位置づく。米国の事例は、コモンコアに象徴されるPISAに影響を受けた学力のグローバリゼーションに応答する今日の教育改革が、学力格差拡大に働くことを示すものであった。調査校の事例からは、学内で教師の学習共同体を構築することが学力格差縮小のために必要であると示唆された。また、大学進学支援プログラムであるAVIDが、コモンコアに応答する低～中位層を対象とする授業改善や、教師の学習共同体の核として機能することを指摘した。本研究の成果は、学力格差拡大に働く今日の教育課程改革において、どのように学力保障をするかの検討をするうえで意義がある。
