| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The current study sought to clarify how science education reform effected by the Ministry of Education and GHQ/SCAP/CIE was developed in the local educational interface. An analysis of documentary records revealed two main findings:(1)The boards of education of Kagawa, Kumamoto and Nagano Prefecture edited the local basal science curricula for elementary school on the basis of“Objectives of Understandings”(1947) compiled by the Advisory Committee on Science Curriculum.(2)The decline in scholastic ability about science was not caused by science education reform in postwar Japan. Including that,“Course of Study for Elementary Science”(1958) followed the idea, content and method of“Course pf Study for Elementary Science”(1952).

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
先行研究では、文部省とCIEによる中央での戦後理科教育改革が地方において、どのように浸透、展開されたのかが明確ではなかった。そこで、本研究では1948年に設置された都道府県教育委員会によって作成された理科基底カリキュラムや全国各地で実施された小学校理科授業を分析したり、昭和20年代後半から30年代前半にかけて実施された理科学力調査を精査したり、昭和33年版小学校理科学習指導要領の編纂過程を追跡することで占領期改革を評価したりすることを行った。その結果、戦後理科教育改革の地方での展開過程が明確になり、結果として何が戦前から転換され、占領解除後の昭和30年代に引き継がれたのかが明白になった。
