Outline of Annual Research Achievements

最終年度では,シアシックニングが顕著に見られる濃厚懸濁液を巨視的スケールの数値流体力学として取り扱う計算手法の開発に向けて以下の2つの観点から取り組み成果を得ることができた.1つ目は法線応力差のシミュレーションによる評価とその理解についての進展である.高分子系などの粘弾性流体と異なり,微粒子懸濁液における法線応力差の意味は十分に理解されていなかった.シミュレーションと理論的な考察を行い,懸濁液の第1法線応力差の意味が明確になった.法線応力の役割を理解することは,構成則モデルを導入する際に粘性流体モデルが有効かどうかを判断する材料になる.この研究で,弾性応力の寄与を考える必要があることが明らかになった.2つ目はシアジャミングについての研究である.流れの中で剛性が現れるシアジャミングは,濃厚懸濁液の特殊な流動履歴依存性をもっとも顕著に現している.応力制御のシミュレーションによって,このシアジャミングを再現し,応力軸が変わるとまた流動するというフラジリティを評価することに成功した.この法線応力差とシアジャミングの研究は,懸濁液の特異性を明確にするものであり,本研究計画の目標を達成するためには不可欠な項目であった.
初年度では,濃厚懸濁液のレオロジー特性を平面伸長流と単純剪断流で比較することで,シアシックニング挙動の流動タイプ依存性を数値的に評価した.そして,異なる流動タイプの非ニュートン流体応答を統一的に扱うレオロジーの枠組みを導入した.本研究は濃厚懸濁液を非ニュートン流体として捉えて連続体シミュレーションを行うことを目標としていた.しかし,本研究を通じて構成則モデルを導入する前に確認すべき事項が濃厚懸濁液の特異性が認識した.この2年間で3つの側面から調べてそれぞれ論文として報告した.
