Outline of Final Research Achievements

In a super-aging society, even elderly people who need support can significantly improve their QOL if they can drive a welfare vehicle. However, the pedestrian space in which the welfare vehicle travels is a mixed traffic with various moving objects, and the environment is complicated and automatic driving is difficult, so it is required to use it in combination with manual operation. In this research, we design a welfare vehicle driving system using mixed reality (MR) for assisting cognitive ability. The visual assist control system that improves driving performance is proposed using MR. And the effectiveness of the welfare vehicle driving support system is evaluated for the independence of users.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

これまでは,主に福祉車両の駆動系やその制御系設計が注目されており,操作する利用者の身体的衰え,認知能力,学習能力は考慮されていなかった。特に高齢者の操作スキルの不足は「慣れの問題」と考えられる事が多く,積極的なアシストは行われていなかった。認知系や判断系を同時に支援するためには,仮想空間の利用が鍵になる。本研究課題ではMRを用いて利用者を含むシステム全体の操縦性能を向上するビジュアルアシスト制御系を構築し,利用者の自立に向けたトレーニングなど福祉車両の運転支援システムの分析を行った。今後は運動・認知・判断能力の理解がさらに進み,新たな支援法も進展するものと考える。
