Outline of Final Research Achievements |
With the recent technological advances in wireless communication and mobile terminals, location-oriented communication services based on user location information have been highly expected. In this research project, I devised a location-oriented P2P communication system as a basic communication framework to easily realize such location-based services, and also implemented the proposed system on a smartphone for demonstration experiments. By using the proposed method, location-oriented communication with neighboring terminals can be realized using existing wireless communication infrastructure such as LTE and Wi-Fi. This communication framework can be utilized by vehicle-to-vehicle communication, vehicle-to-pedestrian communication, local community communication, emergency alert distribution to disaster areas, user cooperative data distribution, etc.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究課題で開発された通信基盤技術は,従来のクライアント・サーバ型による実装ではなく端末間の直接通信を実現するP2Pを利用しており,今後利用拡大が期待される車車間通信や地域コミュニティ通信などさまざまな領域においてユーザ視点の柔軟なネットワークの構築が可能となる.また,新しい通信方式を待つことなく,LTEやWi-Fiといった既存の無線通信方式とスマートフォンにより実現が可能であるため,情報通信社会の速やかな変革につながる革新的な技術になるであろう.
