Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Abscisic acid (ABA) is a key phytohormone that prevents water loss from the plant body. We examined whether ABA has an endocrine-type action or an autocrine-type action, by using molecular biological approaches. Consequently, I found that ABA looked to be able to function by both actions of endocrine and autocrine, which probably would be a unique strategy in plant survival.

多細胞生物において、ホルモンなどの生理活性物質は、生合成場所から作用場所への機敏で正確な伝播制御が要求されます。植物にとって水分状態を感知・伝播して、気孔を最適な状態に維持していくことは、個体レベルで水分蒸散を調節するための最も重要なネットワーク制御の一つです。水分蒸散を制御する植物ホルモンの生合成と組織間における伝播輸送ネットワーク、そしてそこに関わる制御因子と作用機序の理解を目指しています。
