Outline of Final Research Achievements

A series of complications related to placental dysplasia and dysfunction are referred to as placenta-related pregnancy complications (PRPC). PRPC is a disease characterized by a decrease in the activity of detoxification enzymes that detoxify toxic substances in vivo.
In this study, we investigated the interaction between the polymorphisms of genes coding biotransformation enzymes and intake of coffee in PRPC, particularly with regard to hypertension due to pregnancy (HDP). As a result, we found that GST-μ gene deletions tended to be more common in cases of HDP in relation to coffee consumption.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
