Outline of Final Research Achievements

We identified that knock-out of non-collagenous region 2 in the murine type VII collagen showed neither blisters nor erosion on their extremities. However, these knock-out mice showed the significant hairless condition as time proceeds.

VII型コラーゲンと毛包構造維持の関連解明を試みた研究は国内外にない。NC2 領域を持たないVII型コラーゲンが、どのように係留線維（anchoring fibril: AF）を形成し他のタンパクと接着し表皮基底膜を構成するのかを解明することは、表皮接合部の高次構造のさらなる新知見を見出す可能性がある。このことは、VII型コラーゲン遺伝子異常による表皮水疱症患者への新規治療を提供することが可能になる。
