| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We have developed a pulmonary valved conduit using an expanded polytetrafluoroethylene membrane and graft. Early feasibility study was performed at United States under permission of Food and Drug Administration of US. A commercial model was implanted to 15 patients. Also, we investigated long term results of the hand-made expanded polytetrafluoroethylene pulmonary valved conduit equipped with fan-shaped valve and bulging sinus in Japanese 65 hospitals.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
肺動脈狭窄あるいは肺動脈閉鎖を合併した先天性心奇形の治療には肺動脈導管は必須である。しかし、現在臨床使用されているホモグラフトやウシ頸静脈弁付き導管の遠隔成績は不良である。われわれが開発したポリテトラフルオロエチレン製の肺動脈弁付き導管は良好な長期遠隔成績を示している。この臨床成績を基にして市販品を開発することにより多くの心臓病の患者の治療成績向上に寄与することができると思われる。
