| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Salicylate-induced tinnitus in rats could be visualized by behavioral and molecular experiments. Behavioral experiments were performed using an active avoidance task and molecular experiments were performed using a nociceptive receptor, transient receptor potential cation channel superfamily V (TRPV) in the rat auditory pathway. By means of these tinnitus visualization experiments, capsazepine, a specific antagonist of TRPV1, could be one of candidates to block tinnitus pathway and cure tinnitus. Further additional experiments are required.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
耳鳴は目に見えない主観的な現象であり、客観的評価が難しいゆえに未だ有効な治療法が確立されていない。治療法の開発にはこの現象を可視化することが重要である。我々はラットを用いた耳鳴動物モデルを考案するとともに、耳鳴を評価する分子マーカーとして聴覚伝導路における痛み受容体TRPV1 (Transient receptor potential cation channel superfamily V-1) の発現について検討した。なお、今回の動物モデル作成にあたっては、大量投与により一過性の耳鳴を誘導すると報告されているサリチル酸を用いた。
