Outline of Final Research Achievements |
For the tissue regeneration, we focused on the three demensional culture of the stem cells. In oreder to regenerate three demensional structure, we used gel for cell culture . By culturing stem cells in gel with specific culture method, salivary gland like organoid could be induced. When undiferenciated stem cells cultured in gel were transplanted with gel to experimental animals, stem cells migrated to the damaged tissue and enhaced the tissue healing.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
失われた組織やその機能を回復させる再生医療は近年、大きな注目を集めている分野である。本研究ではその中で細胞培養手法に着目した。通常の細胞培養の際には、2次元的に細胞が増殖していくような手法を用いることが多い。この方法では細胞を縦方向に積層させることが難しく、3次元的な構造物を作製することは困難であった。そこで本研究ではゲル中に細胞を播種し、特殊な培養条件を用いることで唾液腺の特徴を示す3次元的な構造体を誘導することに成功した。このことは再生医療に向けた臓器再生へと繋がる知見であるといえる。
