Ｃ型肝炎と診断された患者が治療を受け療養生活を送る中でどのようなニードがあるのかについて明らかにすることを目的とし面接調査を行っていた。対象は消化器内科病棟に入院中、あるいは外来通院中のＣ型肝炎患者で、インターフェロン（IFN）治療もしくはIFNを用いない治療（IFNフリー療法）を受けた経験のある患者とした。得られたデータを質的帰納的に分析し、Ｃ型肝炎と診断されてから治療を受け療養生活を送る中で患者がどのようなニードをもっているのかについて明らかにする調査中であったが、事情により研究を中断することになった。
