Outline of Final Research Achievements

To improve the safety of pediatric sedation, we identified the competencies of skilled nurses during sedation procedures outside the operating room.
Using a gazing point tracking system (eye tracking) to analyze gazing behavior during sedation procedures, skilled nurses were found to be more competent than new nurses in efficient recording tasks, responding to monitor alarms, and paying close attention to and responding to the surgeon during sedation procedures.
These characteristics will be linked to the development of a sedation education program for less experienced nurses.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
