The study contributed to giving systematic explanations to English phraseology through clarifying how phrases are formed from morphological, semantic and acoustic phonetic's perspectives and to showing the linguistic economy (i.e. least effort or redundancy) underlies to from phrases.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究が行ったフレーズの形成規則、形成過程、形成条件、ストレスパタン規則を研究したことは下記の意義が見出された。
平易な単語から構成されているが理解が難しいフレーズの規則を明らかにすることで、英語を理解するのに役立つだけでなく、英語らしさを伴った言語活動が可能となった。そして、本研究で明らかにしたフレーズの形成規則、形成過程、形成条件、ストレスパタン規則は、ほとんど研究がされていなかった。このため本研究は、世界に先駆けて新たな視点でフレイジオロジーの体系化を報告することができ、非常に特色のある研究になったと言える。
