Outline of Final Research Achievements

Anti-tumor immunotherapy is induced by immunization cancer antigen with adjuvant. Although it effectively induces antigen specific killer T cells (CD8 T cells), it has some problems for effective T cells induction and side effect management. It is known that dendritic cells and macrophages present tumor antigen to expand antigen specific killer T cells. Here, I investigated the strategies for effective induction of antigen specific killer T cells in the lung.

肺は外界と接する組織であり、水溶性の抗原やアジュバンドを噴霧状にすることにより非侵略的に投与することができるため、細胞障害性T細胞を利用した癌免疫治療への応用可能性を秘めている。特に肺癌は根治困難な癌としてよく知られており、今後さらに研究を進展させることにより、肺局所で抗原特異的な細胞障害性T細胞を効率よく誘導することが可能になれば、癌免疫療法を通じて対処可能な癌の一つになることが期待できる。
