Outline of Final Research Achievements

From this study , we finally succeeded in creating conditional knockout mouse of ovol2/movo gene using one of transgenic mouse. We tried to success this conditional knockout mouse using Stra8-Cre,Neurogenin3-Cre mouse and ovol2/movo-flox mouse. However we did not get satisfactory results. From now, we are going to study about the functional analysis of ovol2/movo gene.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は精子形成過程におけるovol2/movoの役割を解明することである。精子形成は未だ不明な点が多く、精子形成過程の解明は男性不妊症の原因を明らかとする端緒となることが出来ると考えられる。これは今後の男性不妊症研究のための基礎的なデータ基盤をつくることとなり、将来の臨床応用など、病態に即した治療の開発・少子化対策に貢献できることが期待される。
