Outline of Final Research Achievements

Demineralization was inhibited in the proximal areas of fluoride-containing sealant and S-PRG filler-containing sealant. Fluoride released from fluoride-containing sealant. Multiple ions (Al, B, F, Na, Si and Sr) released from S-PRG filler-containing sealant. S-PRG filler has effect on inhibition of demineralization.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

非侵襲的である再石灰化療法は、初期のエナメル質齲蝕を管理する際の最小限の介入治療として有用であるが、う窩を形成し修復治療を必要とする状況には日常臨床で多く直面する。疾病の原因である口腔細菌叢の改善を図り、患者教育を行い、う蝕の脱灰・再石灰化という流動的な現象への積極的な介入をして、発症と進行を抑制する治療を採用することが提唱されているが、その上で、進行を停止することができないう蝕や機能的、審美的に問題のあるう蝕に対して、歯質を切削する際に「最小限の侵襲」にとどめる必要がある。
