| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study focused on crossholding-shares, independent directors, director remuneration, and general meeting voting behavior in Japan. These research topics are very essential topics in recent discussions on corporate governance in Japan. I have been publishing the results of these research topics, not only academic journals but also publish research books to offer the useful information to Japanese companies, institutional investors, stock exchanges, and government agencies.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究で得られた成果の一部は、これまでの議論を覆すものであった。たとえば、日本ではこれまで、社外取締役の任期長期化への懸念が議論されてきたが、本研究によって、日本では社外取締役の任期が極めて短いために、長期化による独立性喪失の議論にあまり意味がないことを明らかにした。これらの研究成果は今後のディスクロージャー、コーポレート・ガバナンスをめぐる諸制度の新設・改変に際しての参考データになると考えている。
