Outline of Final Research Achievements

Reactive strategies such as reprimands are commonly used to deal with children's behavioral problems in the classroom. They may be affective to stop the problem on the spot, however, often fail to solve the problem fundamentally. Proactive strategies to facilitate adaptive behaviors are needed. This study proposed a classification and real examples of the classroom management strategies based on classroom observations in Japan. Also, we proposed and implemented training sessions of the proactive classroom management strategies for pre-service teachers. The training sessions were found to be effective to increase their teacher efficacy on classroom management.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究で分類した学級経営方略は、先行研究で示されているものと概ね同様であったが、これらの方略が日本の学校教師によって実際に使用されていることが確認され、またその実際の使用例を示すことができた。さらにこれらの分類を元にした学級経営法のトレーニングを立案し、教員養成課程の学生を対象に実施したところ、学生の教師効力感に変化が認められ、少しなりとも不安が解消したとの声も多く聞かれた。通常学級に在籍し学習・行動面で困難を示す児童生徒の割合は8.8%とされることからも、 着任後から教室で遭遇するであろう困難に対応するための具体的な手立てを、養成課程において系統的に伝達することには意義があると思われる。
