Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study is a survey research for two years, in order to understand the diversity of Japanese indigenous whaling industry from three perspectives, namely organization, system and resource mobilization. As a result, it became clear that the difference in the way of mobilization of human and material resources to the whaling industry in the local community was closely related to the way of distribution of whaling wealth, and so on. In addition, by the survey of domestic and foreign Archives, collecting information about historical resources about the indigenous whaling industry, and published a "Japanese Whaling Historical Materials". These can be seen as important achievements in understanding the diversity of Japanese indigenous whaling industry.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
