Outline of Final Research Achievements

We hypothesized that “meta-perspective taking” that enables us to switch perspective via detaching it from self and attaching it to another and imagining self from other’s perspective is a crucial ability for excellent communication ability. Here, we had human participants to learn body movement of an avatar in a virtual reality setting and to perform a cognitive task which requested an ability to take an avatar’s perspective. Significantly, participants experienced a motor learning task shows a higher score in perspective taking task than people who did not experience it.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
