Research Abstract

本研究の目的は、科学コミュニケーションにおけるメディアの役割と影響を明らかにし、今後の科学コミュニケーションのあり方を提言することであった。とくに、メディアと科学者とがどのような関係を構築することが科学コミュニケーションにとって健全かつ生産的なのか、モデルケースを提案し、マニュアルやハンドブックのような形で成果をまとめる作業が積み残されていたが、研究費の年度繰り越しによって、その成果をある程度達成することができた。具体的には、「科学者のためのコミュニケーション・ハンドブック-メディアの活用『話せる科学者』になろう-」というタイトルでパンフレットをまとめ、印刷製本した。部数は90部と多くはないが、学会やシンポジウムなどの機会に関係諸氏に手渡しで配布することを想定しており、科学とメディア、あるいは科学と社会のコミュニケーションにおいてキー(ハブ)となる研究者、メディア関係者に行き渡るには十分な部数であると考えている。このハンドブックの内容は、マスメディアやインターネットなどの特徴を分析した理論的考察と、実際にマスメディアと接触した科学者の経験に基づいた考察の二部からなる。理論的考察と実践的活動の融合を目指した。当初は、より汎用性の高いモデル構築を目指していたが、実際に事例を分析してみると、さまざまな要因が複雑に絡みあっており、単純なモデル化は困難であるばかりか、むしろ危険であることが判明した。そのため、安易なモデル化は避け、まずは現状の理論的考察と実際の活動との相互作用を地道に促進する作業を完成させるべきと判断した。
