Research Abstract

本研究では、高次多極子による量子異常が特に顕著なPrT_4P_<12>及びSmT_4P_<12>(T=Fe, Ru, Os)に注目し、絶縁体CeT_4P_<12>を用いた磁性希釈により、これらの系の基本的単サイト電子相関を解明する。また密接な関連の指摘されるf電子系の研究から、高次多極子に関する物理の進展を図ることを目的とする。本年度の主な成果は以下の通りである。1.昨年に引き続き、単結晶合成法が確立できているCe_<1-x>Pr_xT_4P_<12>(T=Fe, Ru; 0〓x〓0.15)について、組成数を増やし磁化及び磁場中比熱を詳細に測定した。強磁場からの外挿法による解析を精密化し、4f結晶場準位が両系共に1重項-3重項(△〜10K)であることを示した。また理論家との議論により、この結果が周期系に対して提案されているp-f混成を考慮した有効結晶場モデルを支持することがわかった。2.フラックス法によるCe_<1-x>Sm_xT_4P_<12>(T=Fe, Ru)系の作成を試み、ごく最近成功した。約1mm角の結晶が得られ、現在物性測定を進めている。3.類似のかご構造物Pr_3Pd_<20>Ge_6について磁場中中性子弾性散乱実験を行い、磁場誘起相転移に伴う反射ピークの分裂を観測した。4. LaOs_4P_<12>の比熱が絶対零度に向かい増大する振る舞いを観測した。また、250Kの熱サイクルを経ないと再現しない低温異常を新たに見出した。5.希薄磁性化合物La_<1-x>R_xRu_2Si_2(R=Rare-earths)の単結晶を作成し、希土類元素を変化させて磁気異方性、磁化、電子比熱を系統的に調べた。その結果、基底J多重項のみを考慮する従来の結晶場モデルでは磁気異方性を定量的に説明できないことを明らかにした。以上の成果は一部公表し、現在数本の論文にまとめつつある。
