Research Abstract

立方対称を有するf電子系化合物は,単純な結晶構造にも関わらず,非常に複雑な低温物性を示すものが少なくない。近年,その原因の一つが,f電子の持つ多極子自由度にあることが分かってきた。本研究計画は,現実の物質とくにスクッテルダイト化合物とその関連物質を舞台として,特にPrなどの複数f電子配位イオンを有する系における特異な多重極相互作用と準粒子状態を明らかにすることを目的とした。
本年度は,八極子秩序が有望視されているCel-xLaxB6とNpO2に対して,弾性中性子散乱における磁気形状因子の計算を行った。短波長領域で散乱強度が著しく増大することを示し,形状因子の異方性に関する対称性に基づく考察を行った。その後,我々の提案に基づいて実験が行われ,八極子の初めての直接観測が報告されている。
その他,PrOs4Sb12の動的Jahn-Teller効果の解析,Cel-xLaxB6のNMRの理論,PrRu4P12の異常CDW転移に関する理論に取り組み,成果を上げた。
