Research Abstract

Zr_<65>Al_<7.5>Ni_<10>Cu_<17.5-x>Pd_x(x=0-17.5at%)合金溶湯の銅鋳型鋳造による冷却速度のAr雰囲気圧力(2×10^<-3>〜10^5Pa)依存性について調査した。Tg+160K(Tg:ガラス遷移温度)以下の温度範囲で冷却が鈍る現象がPd量および雰囲気圧力に依存せずに観察された。冷却中にこの温度域で過冷却液体(SCL)表面と鋳型表面の間に空間が形成・成長し、冷却速度が雰囲気ガス種・圧力に大きく依存することを、試料および鋳型表面粗さ観察等によって確認した。溶湯の熱収縮速度に対して粘性流動速度が下回る過冷却液体低温域においてこの空間が形成されるため、この温度域に相変態点を持つ合金のガラス形成能は雰囲気圧力に大きく左右されることになる。連続冷却変態曲線を各Pd量合金で調査したところ、x>5at%以上のPdを含む合金がこれに該当することがわかった。ところで、これらの合金はTg直上に相変態曲線を有するため、変形誘起によってせん断帯内に生じる過冷却液体状態の熱的安定性は極めて小さく、動的ナノ結晶化が生じ易いと予想される。実際に5at%以上のPdを含む合金では、室温圧縮塑性変形量が6-7%に達している一方で、これ以下のPd添加合金では1%程度に留まることがわかった。変形後の前者の試料におけるせん断帯内部を透過型電子顕微鏡で観察したところ、fcc-Zr_2Niナノ結晶によって構成される帯状組織が観測されたが、後者の試料においてはこのような組織は発達していないことが分った。以上より、Tg直上に相変態曲線を有する金属ガラス合金系は、鋳型急冷によるガラス形成能の雰囲気圧力が大きく、室温における塑性変形能も大きいことが明らかになった。
