Research Abstract

ブチル,ヘキシル,オクチルと異なる側鎖をもつイミダゾリウムカチオン([BMIM]^+,[HMIM]^+,[OMIM]^+)と,3種類のアニオン(PF_6^-,BF_4^-,(CF_3SO_2)_2N^-)との組合せからなるイオン液体について,二酸化炭素を加圧,吸収したときの電気伝導度を測定した。電気伝導度は低圧において直線的に増加し,その後ほぼ一定となった。この電気伝導度の変化は,カチオンのアルキル側鎖にはあまり依存しないが,アニオンの違いに敏感で(CF_3SO_2)_2N^-<BF_4-<PF_6^-の順で大きくなることが分かった。また,X線回折法により[BMIM]PF_6や[BMIM]BF_4に二酸化炭素を溶解した溶液の液体構造を調べたところ,二酸化炭素はアニオンに優先的に溶媒和していることが明らかとされた。この結果は,これらのイオン液体中において,二酸化炭素の炭素原子とアニオンのフッ素原子とのルイス酸-塩基的な相耳作用が重要であることを示唆している。実際,気相中で二酸化炭素とアニオンとの1:1型錯体の結合エネルギーが報告され,上述したルイス酸-塩基的な相互作用が支配的であることが確認されている。しかしながら,これらイオン液体における二酸化炭素吸収量はBF_4^-<PF_6^-<(CF_3SO_2)_2N^-の順序で増加し,エンタルピー的な相互作用ばかりではなく,エントロピーの寄与が大きいことが確認された。すなわち,バルキーで電荷が非局在化した(CF_3SO_2)_2N^-などは二酸化炭素を吸収可能な空隙も多く有利なことが示された。
