Research Abstract

インドネシア、ジャワ島のサンギラン遺跡(世界文化遺産)の古人類化石に関する地質年代学的研究を実施した結果、当遺跡の人類化石で最も新しい資料は約78万年前であると推定された。近年では、サンギラン遺跡の人類化石は、新しいもので約100万年前、最古のものは150万年前を超えるという主張が一般的であったが、本研究により、この年代観を見直すとともに、人類進化史における当遺跡の古人類の位置づけを再考する必要性が示唆された。
