Research Abstract

再生可能な有機ヒドリド試薬として、2個のプロトンと2電子の酸化還元反応が可能な2-(2-ジピリジル)ペンゾ[b]-1,5-ナフチリジン(pbn)配位子を有する[Ru(bpy)_<3-n>(pbn)_n]^<2+>(n=1,2,3)を合成した。[Ru(bpy)_2(pbn)]^<2+>では1光子の吸収でpbn配位子の2電子酸化還元反応が(pbn+2e^-+2H+〓pbnHH)を受けることが可能な錯体である。さらに、pbn配位子を複数個持つ[Ru(bpy)(pbn)]^<2+>と[Ru(pbn)_3]^<2+>の可視光照射では、上記反応が2回あるいは3回繰り返されて光化学的4電子、6電子還元反応が起こる。また重水中で光化学的2電子還元反応を行うと、立体特異的にC-H結合が生成することから、光化学的2電子還元反応は、分子間で特異的なπ-π付加体経由で進行することが示された。事実、1電子還元体の2量体形成が出来ないようにbpy配位子に置換基を導入した錯体を用いて、同一の条件で光化学的還元反応を行うと、1電子還元反応しか進行しなくなった。以上の結果は、これまで困難と信じられてきた光化学的多電子還元反応を進行させるための基本概念を与える研究成果であると思われる。
