Research Abstract

放射光を利用した精密電子密度分布解析法をさらに発展させ、分子動力学シミュレーションを相補的に組み合わせることにより、LiMn_2O_4、Gd_3RuO_7、Tb_3RuO_7、Dy_3RuO_7などの機能性をもつ種々の無機結晶の構造ダイナミクスと物性との相関を明らかにした。中でもリチウムイオン電池の正極材料に応用されるLiMn_2O_4については、Mn_4O_4立方体クラスター中におけるMnの電荷揺動とこれに伴う結合長揺動を実験的に見出し、このポーラロンがLi拡散に重要な役割を果たしていることを初めて見出すなど大きな研究成果を上げた。
