Research Abstract

神経細胞どうしの連絡は通常化学シナプスで行われますが、その連絡は間接的です。ギャップ結合(電気シナプス)は細胞質どうしを直接連結するため、結合した神経細胞の電気的活動が同期し、そのことが脳の高次機能にも重要と考えられています。本研究では大脳皮質連合野や線条体において、ギャップ結合による密なネットワークの存在を初めて実証しました。特にギャップ結合ネットワークの三次元構造やダイナミックな性質を、世界で初めて目に見える形で示しました。
