Research Abstract

本研究は、マイクロチャンネルを用いて多相エマルションを生成する研究である。マイクロチャンネルで、O/ W(Oil in Water)液滴を生成するには、流路表面の濡れ性として親水性、W/ O(Waterin Oil)液滴を生成するためには疎水性である必要がある。ガラスマイクロチャンネルに、n-オクタデシルトリクロロシラン(OTS)の塗布ならびに紫外線照射の組み合わせにより、単一チップ上でのW/ O/ W(Water-in-Oil-in-Water)型多相エマルション生成に成功した。
さらに、流路の集積化を行い、多相エマルションの大量生成が可能な系の開発を試みた。まず、単一のガラスチップ上に16のマイクロチャンネルが集積したものを設計した。すなわち、液の導入口を同心円上に配し、流路を放射状、液滴の排出口を中心とした点対称の構造にすることで、単一チップ内にて16流路にて多相エマルションの同時生成を実現しようとするものである。ガラスチップ内のマイクロチャンネルの表面改質を行ったところ、複雑な流路にもかかわらず1度の工程でガラスチップ全体を局部的に疎水性および親水性と濡れ性の異なる表面改質を行うことが出来た。当該チップを用いて、多相エマルションの生成に成功した。
