| Research Abstract |
消費文化や印刷文化の浸透を背景とする18世紀のイギリスの都市化は、人々の社会関係のあり方に新しい次元をもたらすとともに、古い制度や組織が担ってきた機能を新たな社会関係資本のネットワークのもとに再編する過程として進行した。都市社会はよりオープンになり、貧困や犯罪は中位層以上の市民が対処すべき社会問題となる一方で、社会的な差異を作り出す新たな力が作用し、参加型の地域社会もその性格を変えていった。
