Research Abstract |
In our field research in Malaysia and Indonesia, it is clear that citizen life and mass media in Southeast Asia is transformed dramatically due to democratization, economic development and urbanization in recent years. A kind of "common experience of modernity" or the realm of homogeneous popular culture through mass media is generated in Southeast Asia.
