Research Abstract

CERN-LHCの7+7 TeV(実験室系10^<17>eV)の陽子衝突実験で最前方に散乱されてくる中性粒子を測定し、超高エネルギー宇宙線の解析に必須なシミュレーションの相互作用モデルを検証する。本研究ではLHCf検出器を開発製作し、CERN-SPS予備実験で期待通りの性能を確認した。現在は、LHCのP1衝突点から140mの地点に検出器を設置しているが、LHC試運転直後の加速器系トラブルで、実験再開の目途は2009年である。LHCfは、10^<17>eV領域の相互作用モデルを確固たるものにすべく、LHC稼働初期のデータ取得に万全の態勢を整えることができた。
