Research Abstract

GaAs/AlAs多重量子井戸構造を試料として、コヒーレント縦光学フォノン(位相の揃った縦型光学格子振動)から、高強度かつ高単色性のテラヘルツ(THz : 1012Hz)電磁波が発生する機構を明らかにした。また、励起子(電子と正孔のクーロン束縛状態)の量子干渉効果(2種類の励起子状態の量子力学的干渉)がコヒーレントフォノンの駆動力となり、THz電磁波が増強されることを実証した。さらに、GaAs/AlAs超格子を試料として、電場による電子・正孔波動関数の局在過程において、THz領域で振動数可変のブロッホ振動(電子・正孔波束のコヒーレント振動現象)の新奇な振る舞いを見いだした。
