Research Abstract

光波長の約1/2の直径の極細光ファイバー(ナノ光ファイバー)により原子と光子を操作する方法について実験及び理論の両面から研究を行った。原子としてレーザー冷却したセシウム原子を用い、ナノ光ファイバーにより原子の自然放出は操作・制御できることを実証した。自然放出光は自由空間と大きく異なり、ファイバーの伝播モードへ効率良く放出される。また、単一から少数個の原子の量子光学的振舞いを光子相関計測により系統的に研究した。更に、原子表面相互作用の高精度計測にも道を拓いた。
