| Research Abstract |
海溝型地震発生のメカニズムと、それに関連した付加体形成・発展のダイナミクスを解くことを目的とし、陸上部に分布する付加体-四万十帯の延岡衝上断層および四国牟岐地方のメランジュの地質学的、構造地質学的、地球化学的研究を実施した。その結果、プレート境界断層に沿って、動的水・岩石作用が進行し、多様な地震断層が形成されていることが判明した。地震性すべりに伴う摩擦発熱は、間隙水の熱圧化を引き起こし、それが断層帯の破壊・すべり・伝搬過程に重要な役割を果たす事が明らかとなった。
