Research Abstract

動物のからだが左右非対称になる機構は、進化的に多様であり、脊椎動物の一部を除いて、ほとんど理解されていない
本研究では、遺伝学的解析手段が駆使できるショウジョウバエの消化管にみられるステレオタイプな左右非対称性に着目した。胚消化管の左右性に異常を示す突然変異体を網羅的に検索し、得られた遺伝子の機能を解析した。その結果、Myosin31DFが、DE-cadherinの機能を介して、消化管上皮細胞の形態を左右非対称にしていることがわかった。コンピュータ・シミュレーションによって、この左右非対称な形状が、左右非対称性形成に十分であることを示した
