Research Abstract

本研究は、これまで謎のままとされてきた遺伝暗号の成立過程に果敢にチャレンジするものである。現在の生物系における、tRNAのアミノアシル化とリボスイッチに実際に見られる形態をもとに、そこから過去にさかのぼって、遺伝暗号システムの進化を探る立場を取る。具体的には、(1) Operational RNA Codeとして典型的であるtRNAAlaのAla特異性とG-U塩基対の存在の必然性、および、(2) Glyを認識するリボスイッチをもとにした遺伝暗号システムの進化、をメインに研究を進め、分子認識メカニズムに迫った
