Research Abstract |
ノンコーディングRNA病原体"ウイロイド"の自己複製能と病原性をRNAサイレンシングの観点から解析した。ウイロイド感染植物に誘導されるウイロイドを標的とするRNAサイレンシングにより、ウイロイド分子は少なくとも5箇所のホットスポットが標的となり分解され、多様なウイロイド特異的small RNAが宿主細胞内に蓄積することを明らかにした。ウイロイドは想像以上に複雑な機構でRNAサイレンシングの標的になっていると考えられる RNA配列の類似性を基に2次構造を予測する新しいプログラムを開発し、RNAの自己複製と分子構造の関連性を解析するための基盤を構築した。
