Research Abstract

本研究においては、水田表面水中のウイルスの生態解明を目的とし、1)水田表面水中には細菌数の平均8倍程度多数のウイルスが存在すること、細菌数とウイルス数の間に正の相関がみとめられた。2)表面水から分離した18株の細菌を供試し、これらに感染するバクテリオ数の季節変動と肥料の種類の影響を調査した結果、表面水中のファージ群集は、系統的に広い範囲の細菌に感染するファージから構成されていることが示唆された。3)表面水中に生息する細菌へのウイルスの感染状況を、透過型電子顕微鏡による細菌細胞の観察から推定した結果、平均で2~3%の細菌細胞中にファージの存在が観察され、水田表面水中のファージ群集が細菌群集の死滅を引き起こすとともに、細菌群集の遷移に大きく影響していることを推察した。また、4)藍藻ファージに特異的なプライマーを用いて同ファージの群集構造を評価した結果、水田にはこれまで知られていなかった未知の藍藻ファージの存在が推定された。
