Research Abstract

わが国の寒冷地に自生するザゼンソウは氷点下を含む外気温の変動にも関わらず発熱によりその花器の体温をほぼ一定に維持することができる発熱植物である。本研究においては、ザゼンソウの発熱現象にミトコンドリアにおける脱共役蛋白質(UCP)がシアン耐性呼吸酵素(AOX)とともに機能していることを明らかにすることができた。本研究の成果は、ザゼンソウのみならずハス等の他の発熱植物の熱産生メカニズムの理解にも大きく貢献するものと考えられる。
